Black Wall Street

Tulsa, OK | 2024-2025 | Valued at $600k

Barnhart Excavating served as the Infrastructure Development Process (IDP) contractor for the Black Wall Street Square project, partnering with Green Country Habitat for Humanity to prepare a new residential community in the historic Greenwood District. Our team delivered the full civil package required to transform a tight, utility‑congested urban infill site into a build‑ready neighborhood with modern infrastructure.

We managed every phase of the IDP scope from demolition and tree removal to mass earthwork, storm sewer installation, waterline construction, sanitary sewer, and paving preparation. The site presented significant challenges, including unmarked utilities, saturated soils, heavy rainfall, and complex coordination with multiple city departments and utility providers. Our crews navigated these obstacles through proactive planning, precise utility locating, and steady communication with inspectors and the owner.

As the IDP contractor, Barnhart Excavating delivered a fully serviced, accurately graded, and infrastructure‑ready site that supports Habitat for Humanity’s mission to expand affordable housing and revitalize the Black Wall Street community.
